A closer look at Aureon
Aureon is a Mac app for voice input. You speak, and it writes cleaned-up text where you're typing, translates into another language, or creates a new note, task, reminder or event in a connected app such as Apple Notes, Todoist or Obsidian.
What it does
Aureon sits on top of whatever Mac app you're using and takes your voice as input. Say a rough sentence and AI Dictation returns a cleaner, ready-to-send version. You can also speak in one language and get written output in another, which the FAQ describes as text you review, not live interpretation or certified translation.
The more distinctive part is Intent Cast. You say a task, such as a reminder for Thursday or a note for a project, and Aureon creates that item in a connected app. The integrations page lists Apple Notes, Apple Reminders, Apple Calendar, Things 3, Obsidian, Flomo, Notion and Todoist. Smart Actions work the other way round. You select, paste or import text and pick one action, such as rewrite, translate, summarize or explain.
Create-only by design
Aureon's FAQ is firm on one rule. It creates new items and doesn't edit, overwrite, delete or reorganize anything you already have. It also never sends a message or email for you. It prepares a draft, and sending stays with you. When a request is unclear about where something should go or when, it asks. The one exception is Obsidian, where you can have it append to a single inbox note instead of making a new file each time.
That limit is the main reason to pick it over a general voice assistant. If you want voice to reorganize your existing notes or fire off replies hands-free, Aureon deliberately won't.
Pricing and privacy
It needs macOS 14 or later. A new download gets 7 days of Max access. Plus is US$1.99 for the first month, then US$6.99 a month, with 5,000 AI output characters a day shared across input and workflows, up to 10 extensions and 3 devices. Max is US$19.99 a month for unlimited output under a reasonable-use rule, unlimited extensions and 5 devices.
Dictation isn't processed on the Mac. The privacy policy says your voice audio is encrypted in transit and sent to Aureon's cloud service and contracted speech-processing providers for each request, and that Aureon doesn't keep the audio or transcript in its own database or use your input to train its own models. How long those providers keep data depends on their settings and agreements. With your permission, it can also send context such as the current app name, window title and the text in the input field, and you can switch that off in settings. SOUNDLINK (HK) is the operator.
