Project Note

A closer look at chart.video

A free animated chart maker that runs in your browser. Paste data, pick one of 11 chart types and export an MP4 up to 4K, a GIF, a transparent overlay or a still image, with no upload, sign-up or watermark.

What it does

Bar chart races and counters that tick up to a final figure are a staple of social video. Making one, as the site's About page puts it, usually means an account, an upload, a paid plan or an afternoon in motion-graphics software. chart.video does it in a single browser tab. You paste a table, open a file or point it at a Google Sheet, choose a chart, and it starts playing with your numbers.

The chart types include bar chart races, animated bars and columns, grouped or stacked, lines that draw themselves, stacked areas, pies and donuts that morph between years, number counters, bubble races, treemaps, waffles, progress bars and gauges, plus A versus B comparisons. Each opens with sample data, mostly from the World Bank, so you can see it move before swapping in your own.

Exports

You can save an MP4 at 1080p or 4K and 30 or 60 frames per second, a GIF, or a transparent WebM that sits on top of other footage in a video editor. If you only need a static graph, the same chart exports as a PNG or SVG. There's no watermark and no account. You can add a logo and music, and an optional voiceover reads a script that starts as a description of the chart's title and figures, which you can edit before generating.

Your data

The privacy page, updated November 6, 2026, says the numbers, file names, images and sound you use stay on your device, and a Google Sheets link is fetched by your browser directly rather than through the site's servers. The voiceover is the exception. When you ask for one, only the script, voice and speed go to chart.video's server and on to DeepInfra, a US company that runs the speech model. Your 20 most recent charts are kept in browser storage so a reload doesn't lose your work, and clearing the site's data removes them.
