A closer look at Weeks Left
Weeks Left is a free countdown site that shows the full weeks and calendar days left in the year, the current week number, and countdowns to Christmas and New Year, with each page explaining how it counts.
What it does
You open the page and the answer is at the top. On November 3, 2026 it read 8 full weeks and 58 days left in the year, week 45, and the year 84% complete. Below that are links to the related countdowns: the current week number, days left, months left, weeks until Christmas and weeks until New Year.
How it counts
The useful part is that it says exactly how it got the number, which matters because 'weeks left' can be counted more than one way. A full week here is seven calendar days. The site subtracts today from December 31, leaves today out, divides by seven and rounds down, so 20 days counts as 2 weeks and 6 days, not 3 weeks. The New Year countdown targets January 1, which is why it's a day longer than the year-end count. Day counts include weekends and holidays, so they aren't working days. It also gives a spreadsheet formula if you'd rather calculate it yourself.
Week numbers follow the US convention. Weeks run Sunday to Saturday and week 1 starts on January 1, even if that's mid-week. If you work with ISO week numbers, which start on Monday, you may see a different number, and the week-number page explains the difference.
Worth knowing
All counts use New York time, so near midnight the answer can be a day off from your local date. The pages are free with no account and load ad and analytics scripts.
