Project Note

A closer look at Graffiti Art Generator

Graffiti Art Generator turns a typed word into graffiti lettering. Pick one of 15 styles, from bubble letters and throw-ups to wildstyle, chrome and stencil, adjust the fill, outline, 3D depth and overspray, then export a PNG or an SVG that stays editable in a vector program. It's free, needs no account, and the lettering is drawn in your browser.

What it does

Type a word, pick a style, and the letters redraw on a wall. There are 15 styles, including bubble letters, throw-ups, handstyle, wildstyle, 3D chrome-style pieces, stencil and a horror set. You can then set the fill to solid, gradient or two-tone, change the outline, the 3D extrusion and block shadow, and add overspray, highlights, wobble or an arched baseline. Backgrounds include concrete, a night wall, paper or transparent, and the canvas comes in 16:9, square, 9:16 story and a 1600 HD size.

If you'd rather not tune every slider, presets for sticker, avatar, poster and practice set things up for you, and a reroll button shuffles the small variations.

Why the SVG export matters

The About page explains how the lettering is built. Each style's glyph outlines are pulled out of the font file ahead of time, and the weight, shadows and outlines are generated from that path data instead of by scaling a font preview. In practice, the SVG you download opens in a vector editor as real shapes. That's the file you want for vinyl cutting, screen printing or sending a design to a print shop, and it looks the same on a machine that doesn't have the font installed. PNG export is there too, with a transparent or textured background, and you can copy the SVG code straight from the page.

Licensing

All 15 typefaces are open source. Thirteen use the SIL Open Font License, and Permanent Marker and Rock Salt use the Apache License 2.0. The site says exports carry no watermark, no usage limit and no attribution requirement, and that commercial use is fine. It also states that it's a design tool and not a guide to painting walls you don't own.

Privacy and ads

According to the privacy policy, the words you type and the artwork you export stay on your device, and there are no accounts or uploads. The site is supported by Google AdSense ads and uses Google Analytics for traffic, and both set their own cookies, with a consent notice for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. The hosting provider keeps standard server logs for a limited period. The site doesn't name the person or company behind it.
