Project Note

A closer look at Hostly

Hostly answers questions in a business website's chat using the products, services, hours and prices the owner has added, and says so when it doesn't know. It can also offer appointment slots and gives staff an internal assistant. Plans start at €29.90 a month including VAT.

What it does

A hair salon gets the same messages every day: how much is a colour, are you open Saturday, is anything free on Thursday. Hostly is built for that. The owner fills in a business profile with products, services, hours and prices, adds Hostly's chat to the website, and the assistant answers customers from that profile. If the answer isn't there, Hostly says so instead of making something up.

There are three modes. With the AI on, it replies to everything, whether the business is open or closed. In hybrid mode it still replies, but staff can answer or take over any conversation. Off means it stays quiet. Bookings are optional. When they're on, Hostly offers the free slots from its own calendar, or from Beauty Calendar if the business already uses it, and the business can charge a deposit or the full price through Stripe. The site's page for physiotherapy clinics says the assistant gives hours, prices and open slots but no health advice.

Staff get a second assistant that answers questions about the business's own internal procedures and documents.

What it costs

The site and dashboard are in Spanish, and prices include Spanish VAT. Mostrador costs €29.90 a month for 600 conversations, 1,800 AI replies and one person on the dashboard. Recepción is €49.90, Sala €99.90 and Sede €200. Pay-as-you-go is €10 for 500 replies with no monthly fee. Monthly plans start with a seven-day trial that needs a card and charges the plan unless you cancel before day seven. You can also ask for a 24-hour demo built from your own website.

Where customer messages go

The privacy policy, updated November 1, 2026, is more specific than most. Hostly is run by Icaro Nutrition SCP in Barcelona. For the chats, the business is the data controller and Hostly processes the messages on its behalf. Replies come from an OpenAI model. If OpenAI doesn't respond, OpenRouter serves the same model, and if neither responds, Google Gemini takes over. In that last case, the policy says, the message and the business profile leave the EU. Hosting is on Render in Frankfurt.

Chats are deleted after a period the business picks in its settings, 3, 6, 12 or 24 months, with 12 as the default. The WhatsApp button only opens the business's own WhatsApp, so those messages never pass through Hostly.
