A closer look at TeacherGPT

An AI assistant for elementary teachers that makes lesson plans, worksheets, slides, games, report comments and rubric-based feedback.

Start from what you need to make

A general chatbot can write a worksheet if you describe it well. TeacherGPT tries to skip that step for elementary teachers. The homepage is organized around what you want to make: a text document such as a lesson plan or unit outline, a visual resource like a worksheet or handout, a presentation for Google Slides, a digital game or quiz, or a grading task for essays and assignments against a rubric. There's also a plain chat option for anything else.

It's set up for teachers in the United States, Australia and New Zealand, with curriculum and state standards pages. The site also has a set of free standalone makers for things like word searches, bingo cards, crosswords, seating charts and Jeopardy-style review games.

Who built it and what it costs

TeacherGPT is made by two people: Kelly Jepsen, a designer whose wife, brother and sister teach, and Eden Dowling-Mitchell, who taught elementary school before moving into software. A trial gives you 15 free credits without a credit card. The paid plan is $10 a month for up to 500 resources.

Student work and privacy

The grading tools are where privacy matters most. The privacy policy says TeacherGPT generates responses through the OpenAI and Anthropic APIs, keeps message history while your account is active, and lets you delete your account. It also recommends leaving personally identifiable student information out of prompts and generated resources. If you plan to paste in student essays for feedback, strip names first and check your school's rules on AI tools.
