Project Note

A closer look at RemoveShadow

Upload a photo and RemoveShadow's AI repaints shadowed areas with even lighting, with modes for portraits, product shots and document pages. It runs on credits, with free starter credits and no card needed to try it.

What it does

RemoveShadow does one job: it takes a photo with an unwanted shadow and gives it back evenly lit. Typical cases on the site are a phone's shadow across a photographed page, harsh shadows under the eyes in a portrait, and the dark patch that makes a product look like it's floating in a listing photo.

You upload a JPG or PNG of up to 10 MB and pick a mode. Smart Detect handles most photos. Portrait, Product Photo and Document tune how the AI treats faces, objects and paper, and the Figurine and Document pages open with the right mode already set. You can also give the AI custom instructions and choose 1K, 2K or 4K output. The site describes the process as detecting the shadowed areas and rebuilding them with lighting that matches the rest of the scene. That's the useful difference from a basic eraser, which can leave smudged patches. It also means the AI is repainting part of your photo, which is why the site itself suggests checking the rest of the frame after a fix, not just the spot you wanted changed.

Credits and pricing

New accounts get starter credits without a card. After that, each photo costs 3 to 14 credits depending on the AI model and resolution. The site offers three models and refunds credits automatically when a photo fails. Subscriptions billed yearly run from Lite at $4.90 a month for 100 credits to Max at $24.90 a month for 1,000, with Pro in between at $9.90 for 300. Prices exclude tax, and one-time credit packs are available if you'd rather not subscribe.

Who runs it and your photos

RemoveShadow is run by Wyattly LLC in Sheridan, Wyoming. It describes itself as an independent interface for third-party AI models and says it isn't affiliated with any model provider. The privacy policy, dated July 21, 2026, says uploaded images are deleted from its servers within 7 days of processing and processed results are only available for download for a limited time. It uses Google Analytics.
