Project Note

A closer look at MergePNG

MergePNG joins multiple PNG files into a single image in a horizontal strip, a vertical stack or a grid, with spacing, background and output format controls. The work happens in your browser, it's free without an account, and there's no watermark.

What it does

MergePNG takes a handful of PNG files and turns them into one image. You add the files, put them in order by dragging or by natural filename sort, and choose one of three layouts: side by side for before-and-after comparisons or product angles, a vertical stack for tutorial steps or long chat screenshots, or a grid for icons and image sheets. The preview updates as you change settings, and the download has no watermark.

The settings cover the details that usually send people back to an image editor. You can match image heights, keep original sizes or set a custom height, add spacing between images and padding around the edge, choose a transparent, white, black or custom background, and add a border. Output can be PNG, which keeps transparency, or JPG or WebP. The tool also checks very large output sizes before export rather than quietly lowering quality.

Local processing

The main selling point is that your files stay on your machine. The privacy policy says the merge, PNG to PDF and Merge Images tools decode and render images in the browser and do not upload image content, filenames, thumbnails or results. Analytics are limited to things like tool views, file count ranges and layout choices. That makes it a reasonable fit for private screenshots or unreleased design drafts. The practical limit on how many or how large the files can be depends on your device.

Price and the rest of the site

Merging PNGs is free with no account. The site's Pro plan, $4.99 a month or $39 a year with no free trial, applies to the WebP to PNG converter: it raises batches from 50 to 500 files and adds filename patterns, folder paths in ZIP downloads and saved presets, still processed in the browser. MergePNG is operated by AstraOcean Ltd, which lists a London registered address, and the about page describes this as a first release, with folders, templates and team features named as possible later additions.
